Privacy Policy

Last updated July 8, 2026

At GDDKit, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information collected on our website (gddkit.com) and through our desktop application.

1. Offline-First Privacy (The Desktop App)

GDDKit is built with an offline-first architecture.

  • Your Data Stays Yours: The Software operates locally on your Windows, macOS, or Linux computer.
  • No Cloud Storage: We do not host, store, or transmit your Game Design Documents, Markdown content, images, diagrams, or project metadata to our servers.
  • No Content Tracking: We have no access to the files you create or modify.

2. Server and CDN Logging

When you visit our website or when the desktop app automatically checks for updates, certain technical details are recorded automatically by our hosting and content delivery network (CDN) provider:

  • Log Data: This includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, operating system, browser type (or software client signature), the page/file requested, and the date and time of the transaction.
  • Purpose: We use this log data exclusively to maintain server security, verify update authenticity, prevent automated scraping/hotlinking, and optimize update delivery.
  • Retention: Logs are automatically purged in accordance with standard server rotation cycles.

3. Third-Party Payment Processing

All transactions are securely processed by our authorized merchants: Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, or Itch.io.

  • No Financial Records: We do not collect or store your billing address, credit card numbers, or transaction logs.
  • Customer Records: We receive only the transaction confirmation (email, buyer name, and product key) from the retailer to verify licensing credentials.

4. Cookies and Analytics

  • Website: We do not use persistent tracking cookies, adware, or intrusive marketing scripts.
  • Application: The desktop app does not utilize Google Analytics, telemetry, or user-behavior tracking libraries.

5. Security of Information

We employ industry-standard network firewalls and TLS encryption to secure the transmission of updates from our distribution servers. However, we recommend maintaining standard antivirus protections on your device to secure your locally stored .gddkit documents.

6. Contact Information

If you have questions regarding this Privacy Policy, you can reach out via our authorized distribution stores.
